A native Austinite, John graduated from Lanier High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in music education from Baylor University and a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist seminary. He was raised in the Presbyterian church, converted through Campus Crusade for Christ, and called into the ministry while in high school and attending the Baptist church. John’s passion and gift is to lead people into the presence of God through worship. He has served several churches in Texas for the past 26 years. He frequently teaches and preaches, as well as serving in an administrative capacity at New Hope. He has produced, co-written and played roles in several musicals, including “The Gospel According to Texas” which has played in various venues in Austin for almost ten years. John enjoys woodworking, history, vacations, sports, Mexican food, and golf. John’s greatest treasure is his wife, Mary Ann, as well as his three daughters, Lauren, Abby, and Kelly.
